CAP is Back!
Our CAP Youth Interns have returned to your local library branch! Elgin County has 8 CAP workers in 10 Library branches working September 2011 until March 2012. The CAP workers will soon be updating their Library branch website, so be sure to check out their hours and book an appointment with them if you would like one-on-one computer training lessons. Soon your branch will be hosting cybercamps and activities such as Wii competitions run by their Youth Interns. The CAP workers look forward to sharing their computer knowledge and skills with you.

Larry the Library Card is Now on Youtube!
Ready to meet the Elgin County Library's mascot? He's a life-sized Library card and he's finished his tour of all the County Library Branches. Larry the Library Card met all the CAP Youth Interns, and he visited the West Elgin Interactive Showcase, with camcorder in hand. You can visit his Youtube Channel at www.youtube.com/LarryLibrary to see all the videos. Or, just click the play button on the video below to see Larry's interview with Alyssa in Aylmer!
Cybercamps have begun at our branches!
Part of the CAP program is providing group training workshops called cybercamps. Most branches will offer them a couple times a month throughout the CAP season. For more information about the cybercamps coming up near you, select your branch at the top of the page; your local CAP worker will post the date and time on their page.
Coming up this month are kids' winter cybercamps that will drive away the inside-all-day blues!

January's County-Wide Cybercamp
January's cybercamp is coming up, and it's all about music! Participants will learn about how rock and roll evolved from older forms of music, and where hip-hop began. We will listen to and watch videos of some of the most important bands and artists in the history of the music industry, and visit websites where kids can learn about their favourite musicians.
Bring your kids out for a fun and educational hour; just select your branch from the menu bar at the top of the screen to find the time at the nearest library location. Don't forget to pre-register; all you need to do is call or drop in!
February's County-Wide Cybercamp
February's cybercamp is on its way, and "It Came From Canada!" is all about the mythical creatures of our own country. You've heard of Sasquatch, but have you heard of Mishepishu, the Windego, or the Lutins? Learn about these and many other mystical and magical beings and where they came from on Saturday February 18th. Participants will hear and read some of the oldest traditional myths of Canada, and they might get a little scare, too!
